COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma in Ministry provides students with foundational preparation for Christian service by combining core theological knowledge, reflective practice and practical ministry skills. Graduates develop an essential understanding of Christian texts and traditions, especially those that inform personal formation, discipleship and ministry with others. They learn to apply this knowledge responsibly within a range of ministry contexts, demonstrating interpersonal and teamwork skills that support effective collaboration in church and community settings. An important aspect of the course is the ability to reflect theologically on ministry practice, helping students connect their experiences with deeper theological insights and develop a thoughtful, informed approach to serving others. The program consists of 144 credit points and is structured to give students a balanced blend of core learning and flexible electives. Core units include The Practice of Christian Ministry, which introduces students to the practical dimensions of ministry work, and Introduction to Christian Spirituality and Discipleship, which develops understanding of spiritual formation and the Christian life. Students then select one of two core pathway options: Introduction to Christian Mission or Yarta Wandatha: The land is speaking, the people are speaking, allowing them to explore either global mission foundations or Indigenous perspectives on land, people and spiritual identity. Beyond the core, students complete 18 points in Biblical Studies or New Testament, gaining familiarity with scripture and methods of interpretation. They also undertake 36 points in Theology: Mission and Ministry or work-integrated learning, enabling them to apply theological concepts in practical settings and build ministry competence. The remaining 36 points may be taken from any discipline, providing room for personal interest, additional ministry training or complementary fields that support their vocational goals. Overall, the Diploma in Ministry offers a comprehensive entry-level qualification that equips students for meaningful and reflective participation in a wide range of ministry contexts.
