COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Theology equips students with a comprehensive and critical understanding of Christian theological traditions, methods and perspectives, enabling them to explore faith, scripture and belief with intellectual depth and clarity. Graduates develop a broad and coherent grasp of theology while also gaining focused knowledge in at least one specialised area, allowing them to engage deeply with topics of personal or vocational interest. Through sustained study, students learn to articulate the knowledge they acquire, generating thoughtful insights and communicating them through clear, reasoned argument. The degree also prepares learners to engage critically with both historical theological traditions and contemporary cultural contexts, helping them interpret modern issues through a theologically informed lens. This foundation supports graduates in developing a strong basis for meaningful engagement and service within their communities and broader society. The Bachelor of Theology consists of 432 credit points, structured to ensure a balanced and thorough formation across key theological disciplines. Students complete 72 points in Biblical Studies, with required study in both Old and New Testament, followed by 36 points in Church History and 72 points in Systematic Theology to build a solid understanding of Christian belief and doctrinal development. A further 36 points are taken in Mission and Ministry, providing insight into the practical and missional dimensions of Christian service. Students also complete an 18-point Capstone unit, which integrates their learning and demonstrates their capacity to apply theological knowledge in a coherent and reflective manner. The remaining 198 credit points may be taken from any discipline, offering flexibility to explore additional theological areas or complementary fields that support personal or vocational goals. Additional rules ensure that students progress through appropriate academic levels, including limits on Level 1 units and requirements for Level 3 study. Overall, the program provides a strong academic and reflective framework for those seeking to deepen their understanding of theology or pursue ministry, leadership or further academic study.
