COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advanced Diploma in Philosophy provides students with an expanded and in-depth program that strengthens their academic foundation in theology while developing substantial philosophical knowledge and analytical ability. Graduates of this course gain significant foundational skills for the critical study of Christian texts, enabling them to interpret scripture and theological traditions with clarity and insight. They also learn to articulate and reflect upon core theological, scriptural and philosophical concepts, building the capacity to understand how these areas interact and shape Christian worldview perspectives. A major outcome of the program is the development of strong analytical skills, allowing students to construct, evaluate and communicate sound theological and philosophical arguments in a variety of contexts. Learners are trained to apply their knowledge not only to their own faith background but also to different cultural, religious and philosophical traditions, engaging in thoughtful analysis that broadens their understanding of diverse viewpoints. The course also emphasises the practical application of philosophical and theological learning, encouraging students to use their skills in service to others through ministry, community engagement, cultural analysis or practical support roles. The program consists of 288 credit points and offers a comprehensive structure that blends theological disciplines with extensive philosophical study. Students complete 18 points each in Old Testament, New Testament, Church History and Systematic Theology, establishing a strong grounding in biblical and theological study. A substantial 144 points are dedicated to Philosophy, allowing students to explore major philosophical themes, traditions and methods in depth. An additional 36 points are taken from Biblical Studies or Christian Thought and History, followed by 36 points from any discipline, giving students flexibility to tailor their learning to personal interests or ministry goals. Overall, the Advanced Diploma in Philosophy equips graduates with a robust combination of theological literacy, philosophical competence and practical reflective skills suited for further study, ministry involvement or intellectual engagement in various contexts.
