COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health/Master of Social Change and Development is an AQF Level 9 postgraduate coursework program completed over two years of full-time study or part-time equivalent. The program requires students to complete 160 units, including 100 units of core courses and 60 units selected from a curated course list. It combines advanced public health knowledge with social change and development studies, equipping graduates to address complex health and social challenges through research, policy, and evidence-based practice. Core courses provide a strong foundation in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, equity-focused health impact assessment, project design and evaluation, social science research methods, and development and social change. Students also undertake a substantial Social Change and Development Research Project, enabling them to investigate contemporary issues and apply research methodologies to real-world challenges. The curated course list allows students to further develop expertise in areas aligned with their professional interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students strengthen their analytical, research, leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills while exploring the social, economic, cultural, and political factors that influence population health and community wellbeing. Graduates are prepared for careers in public health, community development, health promotion, policy analysis, government, non-government organisations, international development agencies, and research institutions, where they can contribute to improving health equity and sustainable social development.
