COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health/Master of Health Management and Policy is an AQF Level 9 postgraduate coursework program completed over two years of full-time study or part-time equivalent. Students are required to complete 160 units, comprising 100 units of core courses and 60 units selected from a curated course list. The program integrates public health knowledge with health management and policy expertise, preparing graduates to address complex health challenges through evidence-based practice and strategic leadership. Core courses develop foundational competencies in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, health economics and finance, health plan design and payment systems, economic evaluation in healthcare, health systems, policy and governance, strategic health leadership, financial management, and equity-focused health impact assessment. These subjects provide students with the analytical, research, and management skills needed to assess population health issues, evaluate healthcare interventions, develop effective policies, and improve health service delivery. The curated course list enables students to broaden their expertise in areas aligned with their professional interests and career aspirations. Throughout the program, students strengthen their abilities in critical thinking, data analysis, policy development, communication, and leadership while applying theoretical knowledge to real-world healthcare settings. Graduates are well prepared for careers in public health practice, health policy, healthcare management, government agencies, research organisations, non-government organisations, and international health sectors.
