COURSE CURRICULUM

The Juris Doctor program requires students to successfully complete 240 units, comprising 160 units of core courses and 80 units selected from the course list. The curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive legal education while developing the analytical, research, and professional skills required for legal practice. Students begin with foundational studies in Legal System and Method I and II, which introduce the Australian legal system, legal reasoning, and research techniques. The core program covers all major areas of law, including property law, constitutional law, administrative law, civil dispute resolution, evidence, company law, professional conduct, equity and trusts, public international law, torts, criminal law and procedure, and contract law. These subjects develop a thorough understanding of legal principles, statutory interpretation, advocacy, ethical responsibilities, and the operation of courts and legal institutions. Students learn to analyse complex legal issues, interpret legislation and case law, construct persuasive legal arguments, and apply legal principles to practical situations. The additional 80 units of elective courses allow students to explore specialized areas of law that align with their professional interests and career goals. Through rigorous academic study, practical learning experiences, and advanced legal training, the program prepares graduates for admission to legal practice and careers in law firms, government, corporate organisations, public policy, and the broader justice sector.
