COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Social Science combined degree requires students to complete a maximum of 320 units, combining psychological studies with a broad understanding of society, culture, and social issues. The program includes 220 units of core courses, psychology elective courses, career-ready placement opportunities, and an 80-unit major selected from the Bachelor of Social Science. Students develop a comprehensive understanding of human behaviour through studies in psychological research methods, cognition, biological psychology, social psychology, mental health, individual differences, and applied psychological practice. The Social Science component explores areas such as sociology, social analysis, ethics, quantitative and qualitative research, policy development, and program evaluation. This interdisciplinary approach enables students to examine how individual behaviour is shaped by social, cultural, and institutional factors while developing skills to address complex societal challenges. Students can enhance their knowledge through psychology electives in advanced cognitive psychology, health psychology, and specialised psychological topics. Career-ready placement courses provide practical experience through professional studios, industry placements, or psychology work-integrated learning. Graduates develop strong skills in research, communication, critical thinking, data analysis, and problem-solving, preparing them for careers in community services, social research, policy, human services, education, and related fields. The program also provides a pathway for further professional psychology training.
