COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Media and Communication combined degree requires students to complete a maximum of 320 units, combining studies in psychology, media, and communication. The program consists of 220 units of core courses, psychology electives, career-ready placement opportunities, and an 80-unit Media and Communication major. Students gain a strong understanding of psychological theories, research methods, human behaviour, mental health, cognition, social psychology, and applied psychological practice. The media component develops creative and analytical skills through studies in media culture, digital media engagement, global media industries, audience participation, communication, and creative practices. The program explores the relationship between psychology and communication, enabling students to understand how media influences individuals, communities, and social behaviours. Students can enhance their learning through psychology electives covering areas such as advanced cognitive psychology, health psychology, and specialised psychological topics. Career-ready placement courses provide opportunities to apply academic knowledge in professional environments through industry placements, career studios, or psychology work-integrated learning. Graduates develop valuable skills in research, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, preparing them for careers in media, marketing, public relations, behavioural research, community services, and communication-focused roles.
