COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine (Honours) is a four-year full-time program requiring the completion of 320 units, including 30 core courses and 10 units of electives. The program combines comprehensive biomedical education, advanced podiatric studies, clinical practice, and research training to prepare graduates for professional healthcare careers and future research opportunities. Students develop foundational knowledge in human anatomy, biomedical sciences, pathology, pharmacology, biomechanics, public health, and professional communication before progressing into specialised areas of podiatric medicine. Advanced coursework covers musculoskeletal disorders, imaging, high-risk foot management, podiatric surgery, prescribing practices, paediatrics, sports medicine, rheumatology, and evidence-based clinical reasoning. The Honours component introduces students to advanced research methods through dedicated Research Project courses, allowing them to investigate important podiatric issues under academic supervision. Students also complete Clinical and Professional Practice training to strengthen their patient care skills and apply theoretical knowledge in real healthcare environments. The program emphasises ethical practice, culturally safe healthcare, interdisciplinary collaboration, and lifelong learning. Elective study provides additional flexibility to expand knowledge and support individual career interests. Graduates are equipped for advanced podiatric practice, research pathways, leadership roles, and further postgraduate study in health and medical sciences.
