COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) requires students to successfully complete a total of 320 units and provides comprehensive academic and practical training for a professional career in nutrition and dietetics. The program follows a structured curriculum, with the first two years consisting of prescribed core courses that establish a strong foundation in nutrition science, food science, human biology, physiology, biochemistry, health sciences, and evidence-based practice. During the third and fourth years, students have greater flexibility to tailor their studies through elective choices and specialized learning opportunities aligned with their interests and career goals. The fourth year is delivered primarily through distance education to support extensive professional practice placements across a range of healthcare and community settings, allowing students to gain valuable real-world experience while maintaining academic progress. Students who achieve a high grade point average by the end of the third year may be invited to undertake the Graded Honours stream, which includes a supervised research project through HLSC4310A and HLSC4310B, providing advanced research and analytical skills. Students in the Ungraded Honours stream complete 20 units of elective courses instead. This flexible program prepares graduates for professional practice, research, and leadership roles in clinical nutrition, public health, food services, community health, and the wider nutrition industry.
