COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics is a five-year combined degree program designed to provide students with advanced knowledge in mechatronics engineering, automation, and mathematical analysis. The program requires completion of 400 units, including 320 units of core courses, a 60-unit Studies in Mathematics and Statistics major, 10 units from a specialised course list, and 10 units of elective courses. Students develop strong foundations in engineering mechanics, electrical systems, programming, mechanical design, embedded technologies, control systems, machine learning, and sustainable engineering practices. The mathematics component enhances students’ abilities in mathematical modelling, calculus, linearity, continuity, predictive analysis, and statistical problem-solving, supporting advanced engineering applications. The program includes specialised mechatronics studies such as embedded control systems, embedded systems engineering, mechatronics design, vision-based navigation, and final-year engineering projects. Students also have opportunities to explore advanced areas including nonlinear control, Internet of Things, computer-aided engineering, and photogrammetry. Through work-integrated learning and industry experience, graduates gain practical skills and professional capabilities required for careers in robotics, automation, intelligent systems, engineering research, data analysis, and emerging technology sectors where mathematics and engineering expertise are combined.
