COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics is a five-year combined degree program that enables students to develop advanced expertise in mechanical engineering while building strong analytical and mathematical skills. The program requires the completion of 400 units, including 320 units of core courses, an 80-unit Studies in Mathematics and Statistics major, 20 units of elective courses, and a compulsory industrial experience component. Students gain foundational knowledge in engineering mechanics, programming, materials, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, machine design, modelling, control systems, and sustainable engineering practices. The mathematics component develops advanced capabilities in mathematical modelling, calculus, linearity, continuity, predictive analytics, and statistical analysis, enhancing problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Throughout the program, students undertake practical engineering projects, work-integrated learning, and professional development activities to prepare for industry challenges. The combination of mechanical engineering and mathematics provides graduates with versatile skills applicable to areas such as advanced manufacturing, robotics, energy systems, data analysis, engineering research, and technological innovation.
