COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology with an ICT Security Specialist major is designed to provide students with the technical knowledge and practical skills required to protect, manage, and secure modern digital systems. The program requires completion of 240 units, including 140 units of core courses, an 80-unit major, and 40 units of electives or an elective pathway. Students develop a strong foundation in information technology, including programming, data management, computer systems, networking, and digital technologies. The ICT Security Specialist major focuses on preparing students to design, implement, and manage effective cybersecurity strategies that protect organisations from cyber threats and ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. Students gain expertise in areas such as network security, cyber security governance, cloud computing, risk management, and criminology to understand both technical vulnerabilities and security challenges. Through practical learning, students develop skills in identifying security risks, implementing protective measures, managing security policies, and responding to cybersecurity incidents. Graduates are prepared for careers in cybersecurity, information security management, network protection, and technology risk assessment.
