COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Psychological Science requires students to complete 320 units, combining studies in criminology and psychology to develop a comprehensive understanding of crime, human behaviour, and mental processes. The program includes 100 units of criminology core courses covering key areas such as criminological theory, victimology, media criminology, criminal justice systems, criminal justice practice, criminology in legal contexts, restorative justice, cybercrime, crime and power, and forensic evidence. Students also complete 160 units of Psychological Science core courses that provide foundational and advanced knowledge in research methods, psychology, statistics, psychological practice, mental health, cognitive psychology, biological psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, psychological assessment, and applied psychological science. To gain practical experience, students complete one career-ready placement option, either CRIM3002 Criminal Justice Placement or PSYC3002 Work Integrated Learning in Psychology combined with an additional psychology course from the approved list. The remaining 40 units are completed through electives, allowing students to explore additional areas of interest. The program ensures students develop research, analytical, communication, and professional skills while gaining insight into the relationship between psychological factors and criminal behaviour. Students must complete only approved program courses, remain within the 320-unit requirement, and not exceed 100 units at any level within each component program.
