COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) requires students to complete 400 units, integrating comprehensive studies in criminology and law to develop professional knowledge and practical skills. The program consists of 120 units of criminology core courses covering criminological theory, victimology, media criminology, criminal justice systems, criminal justice practice, criminology in legal contexts, restorative justice, cybercrime, forensic evidence, crime and the state, and a supervised criminal justice placement. Students also complete 160 units of core law courses that provide a strong foundation in legal systems, torts, criminal law and procedure, contracts, constitutional law, administrative law, civil dispute resolution, evidence, company law, equity and trusts, property, public international law, and professional conduct. In addition, students select 80 units from an extensive law elective list, allowing specialization in areas such as advanced criminal law, family law, commercial law, taxation, environmental law, human rights, intellectual property, internet law, banking and finance law, advocacy, mediation, arbitration, legal innovation, and legal research. The remaining 40 units are completed as electives, enabling students to broaden their academic interests. Students must complete only approved program courses, remain within the 400-unit requirement, and not exceed 100 units at any level within each component program, ensuring a balanced and professionally accredited education.
