COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Computer Science is a five-year combined degree program requiring students to complete 400 units through an integrated study of computing, electronics, software development, and engineering systems. The program includes 350 units of core courses that provide a strong foundation in computer science and computer systems engineering. Students study key areas such as computing fundamentals, databases, electrical engineering, digital electronics, programming, mathematics, discrete mathematics, physics, web technologies, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, theory of computation, circuits, embedded computing, systems analysis, network security, engineering statistics, cybersecurity, telecommunications, communications, programmable logic design, and Internet of Things technologies. Students also complete 20 units from the Computer Systems Engineering course list, allowing further specialization in areas such as data security, machine intelligence, data engineering, cybersecurity governance, signal processing, and electronic product design. In addition, students undertake a Computer Systems and Robotics major, combining core and advanced study to develop expertise in intelligent systems, robotics, and computer engineering applications. The program includes compulsory industrial experience, providing opportunities to apply academic knowledge in professional environments, develop industry connections, and gain practical skills. Through this multidisciplinary curriculum, graduates develop strong programming, engineering, analytical, and problem-solving abilities for careers in software development, systems engineering, cybersecurity, robotics, artificial intelligence, networking, embedded systems, and emerging technology industries.
