COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics is a five-year combined degree program requiring students to complete 400 units through an integrated study of civil engineering, mathematics, statistics, and professional practice. The program includes 310 units of core courses that develop expertise in engineering principles, infrastructure design, scientific analysis, and advanced mathematical methods. Students study fundamental areas such as engineering mechanics, earth systems, programming, professional engineering practice, mathematics, physics, surveying, numerical methods, structural analysis, civil engineering materials, geomechanics, transportation engineering, risk management, fluid mechanics, sustainable engineering, reinforced concrete and steel design, hydrology, advanced design analysis, geotechnical engineering, water engineering, and project management. The program also includes 20 units of design core courses, allowing students to apply engineering knowledge through specialized projects in structural, water, or geotechnical engineering, along with 10 units of project-based coursework. Students complete a 60-unit Studies in Mathematics and Statistics major, with advanced study at the 2000 and 3000 levels, building strong capabilities in mathematical modelling, analysis, computation, and predictive techniques. A compulsory industrial experience component provides practical exposure, helping students apply theoretical knowledge, develop professional networks, and gain workplace skills. This multidisciplinary degree prepares graduates for careers in civil engineering, infrastructure development, engineering consultancy, research, data analysis, mathematical modelling, and technology-focused industries where advanced analytical and engineering expertise are required.
