COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) is a five-year combined engineering program requiring students to complete 400 units through an integrated curriculum that combines infrastructure design with environmental sustainability. The program consists of 360 units of core courses covering fundamental engineering, science, mathematics, and environmental studies. Students develop knowledge in areas such as chemistry, biology, engineering mechanics, earth systems, programming, professional engineering practice, mathematics, physics, surveying, analytical chemistry, numerical methods, structural analysis, civil engineering materials, geomechanics, transportation engineering, fluid mechanics, sustainable engineering, environmental legislation, environmental process technology, hydrology, hydrobiological modelling, land surface processes, contaminant hydrogeology, geographic information systems, geotechnical engineering, and water engineering. Students also complete 20 units of design core courses, allowing them to apply engineering principles to practical projects in structural, water, or geotechnical engineering, along with 10 units of project coursework and 10 units of Environmental Engineering project studies. The program includes compulsory industrial experience, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge in professional environments, develop industry connections, and gain practical engineering skills. By combining civil infrastructure expertise with environmental engineering approaches, the program prepares graduates to design sustainable solutions for complex challenges involving urban development, resource management, climate resilience, and environmental protection. Graduates develop strong technical, analytical, research, and project management skills for careers in civil engineering, environmental consulting, infrastructure development, water management, sustainability, and engineering innovation.
