COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics is a five-year combined degree program requiring students to complete 400 units through a carefully structured combination of engineering, mathematics, statistics, professional experience, and elective studies. The program includes 330 units of core courses that develop advanced knowledge in chemical engineering, science, mathematics, and applied problem-solving. Students study fundamental areas such as chemistry, engineering programming, professional engineering practice, mathematical modelling, physics, statistics, thermodynamics, energy transfer, renewable technologies, resource optimization, fluid mechanics, sustainable engineering, calculus, linearity, predictive analytics, chemical reactor design, process safety, mass transfer, process modelling, separation processes, simulations, control systems, and engineering research. Students also complete an 80-unit Studies in Mathematics and Statistics major, including advanced mathematics and statistics courses at the 2000 and 3000 levels, strengthening their analytical, computational, and modelling capabilities. The program includes compulsory industrial experience, providing students with opportunities to apply their knowledge in professional environments, develop industry networks, and gain practical engineering skills. Students also complete 10 units of electives, allowing further exploration of individual interests and career goals. This interdisciplinary degree prepares graduates with strong technical, analytical, research, and problem-solving skills for careers in chemical engineering, applied mathematics, data analysis, scientific research, energy, manufacturing, technology, and other industries requiring advanced quantitative expertise.
