COURSE CURRICULUM

The UNSW Master of Information Technology/Master of Commerce double degree requires students to complete a total of 144 Units of Credit (UOC), combining advanced study in both information technology and business disciplines. The program integrates 96 UOC from the Master of Information Technology and 72 UOC from the Master of Commerce, with 24 UOC of overlapping content double-counted to reduce the total study load. In the Information Technology component, students complete an IT specialisation worth 96 UOC, allowing them to build deep technical expertise in areas such as software systems, data science, or artificial intelligence. In the Commerce component, students complete core foundation courses including COMM5999 (0 UOC), MGMT5050 (6 UOC), and a data analysis course (6 UOC), followed by a 24 UOC specialisation and 30 UOC of electives, which may include approved Engineering courses. A 6 UOC capstone course is also required to consolidate learning through applied, real-world business problem-solving. Students may choose either one or two Commerce specialisations, although taking two may exceed the standard UOC requirements. The double counting rules allow up to 24 UOC to be shared between the two degrees, including selected IT and Commerce courses such as COMP9024 and MGMT5050, ensuring academic efficiency while maintaining depth of study. Overall, the program provides a highly flexible and interdisciplinary pathway that equips graduates with both technical IT capabilities and strong commercial and managerial expertise for leadership roles in the digital economy.
