COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Global Health (Extension)/Master of Health Leadership and Management double degree requires students to complete a total of 96 Units of Credit (UOC), providing a comprehensive education that integrates global health expertise with advanced leadership and management skills. The program includes 48 UOC of core courses, which establish a strong foundation in public health, global health systems, health policy, leadership, workforce management, and healthcare service improvement. Students are also required to complete at least 12 UOC of Global Health prescribed electives, enabling them to explore specialised topics related to international health challenges, health development, and population health in diverse settings. A major component of the degree is the 24 UOC research methodology or extension project requirement, which develops advanced research, analytical, and critical thinking skills through independent investigation of contemporary global health issues. In addition, students may complete up to 12 UOC of prescribed electives, allowing them to broaden their knowledge and tailor the program to their professional interests and career goals. International students who completed previous studies in a non-English-speaking country must enrol in PHCM9100 Academic Practice, a 0 UOC course designed to support academic communication and success. The program may also include opportunities for independent study or internships, providing valuable practical experience and professional exposure through engagement with health organisations and projects in Australia and international settings.
