COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health/Master of Health Leadership and Management (Extension) double degree requires the completion of 96 Units of Credit (UOC) and offers a structured yet flexible curriculum that combines advanced public health knowledge with leadership and management expertise. The program includes 48 UOC of core courses, which provide comprehensive training in key areas such as epidemiology, biostatistics, health policy, health systems, leadership, workforce management, quality improvement, and healthcare service delivery. These core subjects establish a strong foundation for understanding and addressing complex health and organisational challenges. Students must also complete a 24 UOC research methodology or extension project component, which develops advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving skills through independent investigation of contemporary health management or public health issues. The degree offers flexibility through an optional specialisation of up to 24 UOC, allowing students to focus on specific areas of interest and career relevance. Additional prescribed electives of up to 24 UOC enable students to broaden their expertise across a range of public health and health management disciplines. International students who completed their previous studies in a non-English-speaking country are required to enrol in PHCM9100 Academic Practice, a 0 UOC course designed to support academic success and professional communication. Students may also undertake independent study or internship opportunities, providing valuable practical experience, industry engagement, and exposure to real-world health leadership and management environments.
