COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Global Health/Master of Public Health (Extension) double degree requires students to complete a total of 96 Units of Credit (UOC), providing a flexible yet comprehensive pathway to advanced public health education. The program begins with 30 UOC of core courses that establish foundational knowledge in public health principles, global health challenges, epidemiology, health systems, policy, and population health. Students must also complete at least 12 UOC of Global Health prescribed electives, allowing them to explore specialised international health topics and develop expertise in areas relevant to global health practice. A significant component of the degree is the 24 UOC research methodology or extension project and coursework requirement, which strengthens research, analytical, and evidence-based decision-making skills through advanced study and independent investigation. Students may further tailor their learning through an optional specialisation worth up to 24 UOC, enabling focused study in a particular public health area aligned with their career interests. Additional prescribed electives of up to 30 UOC provide further flexibility to broaden or deepen knowledge across diverse public health disciplines. International students who completed previous studies in a non-English-speaking country are required to enrol in PHCM9100 Academic Practice, a 0 UOC course designed to support academic success. The program may also include opportunities for independent study or internships, offering valuable practical experience and professional engagement in real-world health settings.
