COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Robotics) at UNSW Sydney is a 96 Units of Credit (UOC) postgraduate program designed to provide advanced technical expertise in robotics, automation, intelligent systems, and autonomous technologies. The program combines foundational engineering knowledge, specialised robotics studies, professional development, and research experience to prepare graduates for careers in one of the fastest-growing technology sectors. Students begin with 24 UOC of foundational core courses that establish essential principles in engineering, computing, and robotics-related disciplines. They then complete 12 UOC of disciplinary knowledge core courses, which develop expertise in key robotics areas such as control systems, sensing technologies, autonomous systems, and robotic design. The program also includes 12 UOC of advanced disciplinary knowledge and disciplinary knowledge electives, allowing students to tailor their studies according to their interests and career goals. A further 24 UOC of advanced disciplinary knowledge core courses provides in-depth study of complex robotics concepts, intelligent automation, machine learning applications, and advanced system integration. In addition, students undertake 6 UOC of engineering technical management courses to develop leadership, communication, ethical practice, and project management skills. The final 18 UOC is dedicated to research, capstone, or project work, where students apply advanced robotics concepts to solve real-world challenges. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced careers in robotics engineering, automation, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing, research, and emerging technology industries, combining technical depth with innovation and professional capability.
