COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Electrical Engineering) at UNSW Sydney is a 96 Units of Credit (UOC) postgraduate program designed to provide advanced technical knowledge and professional capability in electrical engineering. The program is structured to support both foundational learning and advanced specialization, allowing students to tailor their studies to their career goals. It begins with 12 UOC of foundational core courses that strengthen essential electrical engineering principles and prepare students for advanced study. Students then complete 36 UOC of disciplinary knowledge electives, which build strong expertise in core areas such as power systems, renewable energy, signal processing, electronics, and related electrical engineering fields. This is followed by 6 UOC of engineering technical management courses, which develop important professional skills such as leadership, communication, ethical decision-making, and project management in engineering contexts. The program also includes 24 UOC of advanced disciplinary knowledge electives, which deepen technical understanding and focus on complex, modern engineering challenges and emerging technologies. In addition, students complete 18 UOC of research, capstone, or project work, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world engineering problems and develop strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced roles in electrical engineering, renewable energy systems, telecommunications, and engineering research and development, equipping them with both technical depth and professional skills required in modern engineering industries.
