COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Data Science and Decisions at UNSW Sydney is a 96 Units of Credit (UOC) postgraduate program designed to build advanced expertise in data science, analytics, and decision-making. The program is structured to provide both depth in core technical areas and flexibility through specialisations and electives. Students complete 54 UOC of core courses that develop foundational and advanced skills in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data analysis, and economics, ensuring a strong interdisciplinary grounding for data-driven problem solving. In addition to core studies, students undertake a 12 UOC research project, which allows them to apply theoretical knowledge to a substantial real-world or industry-relevant problem, developing independent research, analytical reasoning, and practical problem-solving capabilities. The program also includes specialisations, enabling students to focus their studies in areas aligned with their career interests, such as advanced analytics, machine learning, or decision sciences. Prescribed electives further enhance flexibility, allowing students to broaden their expertise or deepen knowledge in complementary fields.
