COURSE CURRICULUM

The MBA (Extension) program expands the standard 12-month Full-Time MBA by incorporating an additional year of practical and research-based learning through three Industry-partnered Learning (IPL) and/or Extension Research Project (ERP) courses completed over three academic terms. The Industry-partnered Learning component provides students with the opportunity to undertake internships or similar workplace experiences as part of their studies, enabling them to apply knowledge gained across multiple MBA courses in real business environments. This experience helps students develop professional skills, strengthen industry connections, and gain valuable exposure to workplace practices. For international students, IPL also offers insight into the Australian workplace and an understanding of cross-cultural dynamics within business settings. AGSM supports students in securing internship opportunities by providing guidance and assistance throughout the process, while students are required to complete assessment tasks related to their placement experience. Alternatively, or in combination, students may undertake an Extension Research Project, which allows them to focus on a topic closely aligned with their career goals and professional interests. Working closely with an AGSM faculty supervisor in a one-to-one arrangement, students conduct in-depth research and analysis of their chosen subject area. This research experience helps build specialized expertise, develop analytical capabilities, and provide a strong foundation for future career advancement after completing the MBA.
