COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Architecture/Master of Property and Development at UNSW Sydney is a structured double degree designed to integrate advanced architectural education with in-depth knowledge of property and development practice. The Master of Architecture component requires students to complete 72 Units of Credit (UOC) through 10 core courses that cover key areas such as architectural design, professional practice, research, construction, structural systems, environmental design, and building services. This equips students with the technical, creative, and professional capabilities required for architectural practice. The Master of Property and Development component consists of 60 UOC across 8 core courses, focusing on essential disciplines including property performance analysis, investment and finance, valuation, development feasibility, asset and facilities management, real property law, and research, providing students with a strong commercial understanding of the built environment. In addition, students complete 6 UOC through one prescribed elective selected from either the architecture or property disciplines, allowing them to extend their learning in a complementary area. A further 6 UOC is taken from a specialised list of electives focusing on advanced themes in Australian architecture and urbanism, enabling deeper exploration of contemporary design and planning issues. This integrated structure prepares graduates with a balanced combination of design expertise and property knowledge, enabling them to work effectively across architecture, development, and urban industry sectors.
