COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Vision Science at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 144 Units of Credit (UOC) when taken as a standalone program, consisting of core Vision Science studies and General Education courses. The main disciplinary component includes 132 UOC of core courses delivered across Stages 1 to 3, which provide a structured progression of knowledge and skills in vision science. These core subjects build a strong foundation in areas such as visual function, eye health, ocular anatomy, and the scientific principles underlying vision and visual disorders. As students advance through the program, they develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills relevant to eye care, research, and health-related settings. In addition to the core curriculum, students must complete 12 UOC of General Education courses, which allow them to broaden their academic experience beyond their primary discipline. These courses help develop complementary skills in communication, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning, contributing to a well-rounded education. However, students must also be aware of excluded General Education courses, which are not permitted within this program. The degree structure is carefully designed to ensure a logical sequence of study, and students are advised to follow the recommended enrolment order for optimal progression.
