COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Laws at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), combining a comprehensive science education with professional legal training. The Bachelor of Science component contributes 96 UOC and includes core courses, an approved Science major, Science elective courses, and employability experience courses. This structure allows students to gain in-depth knowledge in their chosen scientific discipline while developing practical skills, industry awareness, and career readiness through structured learning experiences. Students can select from a wide range of science majors, enabling them to tailor the degree to their interests and future career goals. The Bachelor of Laws component accounts for 144 UOC and provides a strong foundation in legal theory, practice, and professional skills. It includes 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that cover the core areas of legal education, 6 UOC of prescribed law electives, and 42 UOC of additional law elective courses that allow students to explore specialised legal fields. Throughout the program, students develop critical thinking, legal reasoning, research, advocacy, and communication skills alongside their scientific expertise. By integrating scientific knowledge with legal education, this double degree equips graduates with a unique interdisciplinary skill set that is highly valuable in areas such as legal practice, science policy, regulation, intellectual property, environmental law, government, research, and other professions where scientific understanding and legal expertise intersect.
