COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science / Fine Arts at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), combining rigorous scientific study with creative artistic practice. The Science component accounts for 96 UOC and includes core requirements, employability experience courses, and at least one major. Students complete 6 UOC of core courses and 12 UOC of employability experiences, ensuring both academic grounding and career readiness. A central feature of the degree is the Science major, which allows students to specialise in areas such as Anatomy, Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Biophysics, Ecology and Conservation, Biology and Biodiversity, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Climate Systems Science, Food Science, Geography, Earth Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Materials Science, Microbiology, Immunology, Marine and Coastal Science, Neuroscience, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Physics, Psychology, Vision Science, and more. Most majors require between 72 and 78 UOC, while Mathematics and Statistics majors require 60 UOC, providing flexibility in depth and focus. Students may also choose to complete a second major or up to two minors, further broadening their scientific expertise. The Fine Arts component contributes the remaining 96 UOC and allows students to develop their creative practice in areas such as animation, art theory, music, or visual arts through studio-based and theoretical learning. By combining Science and Fine Arts, this double degree equips students with both analytical and creative capabilities, preparing them for diverse careers in research, media, design, education, and interdisciplinary innovation.
