COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science / Law at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), combining comprehensive legal education with advanced technical computing studies. The Law component accounts for 144 UOC and is structured to provide a strong foundation in legal theory and practice. This includes 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that cover core areas of the legal system, 6 UOC of prescribed law electives, and 42 UOC of additional law elective courses that allow students to explore specialised legal topics, particularly those relevant to modern regulatory and technological environments. These studies develop critical thinking, legal reasoning, research skills, and strong written and oral communication abilities, along with an understanding of ethical and professional responsibilities. The Computer Science component contributes 96 UOC and focuses on developing technical expertise in computing, including programming, algorithms, data structures, software development, and systems design. This equips students with the ability to design, analyse, and build complex software systems. By combining these two disciplines, the degree provides a unique interdisciplinary skill set that bridges law and technology. Graduates are well prepared for careers in areas such as technology law, cybersecurity, software development, regulatory compliance, digital policy, and other fields where legal and computational knowledge intersect. Overall, this double degree produces versatile professionals capable of working across both legal and technical domains.
