COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science / Fine Arts at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), combining technical computing education with creative artistic training. The Computer Science component accounts for 96 UOC and focuses on developing a strong foundation in computing principles, including programming, algorithms, data structures, and software development. This component equips students with the technical knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to design and build digital systems and interactive technologies. It also provides the computational understanding required for working in areas such as computer graphics, digital media, and emerging creative technologies. The Fine Arts component also contributes 96 UOC and is designed to develop students’ creative practice and conceptual thinking. Students engage in studio-based and theory-informed learning across disciplines such as Animation and Moving Image, Art Theory, Music, or Visual Arts. This allows them to build a strong artistic foundation while exploring their chosen specialisation in depth. By combining these two areas of study, the program enables students to integrate technical and creative approaches, supporting the development of skills in digital production, storytelling, and visual communication. Graduates are well prepared for careers in fields such as animation, game design, interactive media, digital arts, and other industries where technology and creativity intersect, giving them a versatile and future-focused skill set.
