COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Social Sciences at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), combining scientific training with a strong understanding of social, political, and economic systems. The Science component accounts for 96 UOC and provides students with a structured foundation in scientific thinking, methodology, and discipline-specific knowledge. Depending on their chosen Science major, students develop analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to fields such as psychology, mathematics, environmental science, and other scientific areas. This component ensures students gain both theoretical understanding and practical application of scientific concepts relevant to real-world challenges. The Social Sciences component also contributes 96 UOC and focuses on understanding how societies function and change over time. It includes the study of political systems, international relations, social structures, environmental issues, and economic frameworks. Through this component, students develop strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills that enable them to interpret complex social problems and contribute to informed public discussion and policy development. By combining Science and Social Sciences, this double degree provides an interdisciplinary education that bridges empirical analysis with human and societal understanding.
