COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Arts at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), combining scientific training with broad study in the humanities and social sciences. The Science component accounts for 96 UOC and includes five core courses that provide orientation to university study, development of a graduate portfolio, and three employability-focused experience courses. Alongside these core requirements, students complete at least one Science major, with the option to add a minor and additional Science elective courses if needed. This structure allows students to gain depth in a scientific discipline while also building practical skills and career readiness. The Arts component also contributes 96 UOC and provides flexibility to explore a wide range of disciplines. Students complete one major and one minor, or alternatively choose to complete a double major depending on their interests and career goals. Arts study areas may include humanities, social sciences, languages, creative arts, or business, allowing students to develop strong communication, critical thinking, and analytical skills. By combining Science and Arts, the program creates a balanced education that integrates empirical reasoning with human-centred perspectives. Graduates are well prepared for diverse careers across industries such as education, research, policy, communications, environmental work, and scientific fields, with the ability to approach problems from both technical and interdisciplinary viewpoints.
