COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) / Bachelor of Science (Computer Science) at UNSW is a double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC). The program combines 144 UOC from Advanced Mathematics (Honours) and 96 UOC from Computer Science. In the Advanced Mathematics component, students complete an approved mathematics honours major, a foundation course (SCIF1131), a 48 UOC honours year, and additional science elective courses. In the Computer Science component, students complete a Computer Science major along with computer science elective courses that build skills in programming, algorithms, artificial intelligence, and software systems. Because both degrees are closely related, some courses can overlap between mathematics and computer science, allowing students to avoid repeating similar subjects. However, depending on the chosen majors, some students may need to take more advanced versions of certain courses or replace standard courses with higher-level ones. If students complete all requirements in fewer than 240 UOC due to overlapping subjects, they must take additional electives from the Faculty of Science or Faculty of Engineering to meet the total credit requirement. Overall, this program provides a strong combination of advanced mathematical theory and practical computing skills, preparing graduates for careers in technology, data science, research, AI, and high-level analytical roles in industry and academia.
