COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) / Bachelor of Laws at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 288 Units of Credit (UOC), combining rigorous training in both legal studies and advanced quantitative analysis. The Law component accounts for 144 UOC and is structured to develop strong legal knowledge, reasoning, and professional skills. This includes 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that form the core legal curriculum, 6 UOC of prescribed law electives, and 42 UOC of additional law elective courses that allow students to explore specialised areas of interest within the legal field. These studies emphasise analytical thinking, ethical understanding, research capability, and strong oral and written communication skills essential for legal practice and policy work. The Advanced Mathematics (Honours) component also contributes 144 UOC and provides in-depth mathematical and statistical training. It includes 96 UOC of advanced mathematics coursework and an additional 48 UOC Honours year, during which students complete higher-level study and an independent research project. This honours experience develops advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities and allows students to apply mathematical methods to complex real-world challenges.
