COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) / Bachelor of Commerce at UNSW requires students to complete a total of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), integrating rigorous mathematical training with comprehensive business education. The Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) component accounts for 144 UOC and includes an approved Advanced Mathematics (Honours) major, the SCIF1131 course, a 48 UOC Honours year, and additional Science elective courses that broaden disciplinary understanding. This portion of the degree builds strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, culminating in advanced research work during the honours year. The Bachelor of Commerce component contributes 96 UOC and is designed to develop strong foundations in business theory and practice. It includes Integrated First Year Courses totalling 42 UOC, although students are exempt from COMM1110 as this requirement is fulfilled through the mathematics program. Students also complete a Commerce major worth 48 UOC, allowing specialisation in areas such as finance, economics, or business analytics. In addition, they must complete a prescribed Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course, which can be taken through either Science or Commerce, providing essential industry experience. The Final Year Synthesis requirement (0–6 UOC) can be satisfied by SCIF3000, though students must still complete the full 96 UOC of Business School disciplinary requirements through business electives. Overall, this dual degree combines advanced quantitative expertise with professional business training, preparing graduates for diverse, high-demand careers in finance, consulting, analytics, and technology-driven industries.
