COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science at UNSW, when completed as a standalone program, requires students to finish a total of 144 Units of Credit (UOC). The core of the degree is a 96 UOC Computer Science major, which provides in-depth training in computing fundamentals such as programming, algorithms, data structures, systems design, and software development. This major builds strong technical and analytical skills that are essential for solving complex computational problems and developing modern software applications. In addition to the core major, students complete 36 UOC of Free Electives, which offer flexibility to explore other areas of interest across the university. Within this structure, students may also choose to undertake an optional minor or combine a minor with additional electives to broaden their academic experience and develop interdisciplinary skills. The final requirement is 12 UOC of General Education, which allows students to study subjects outside their primary field, encouraging broader thinking and exposure to different disciplines.
