COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Media / Bachelor of Social Sciences is a double degree requiring students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), with 96 UOC allocated to each discipline. The program is designed to integrate communication, media practice, and social science knowledge, equipping students with the analytical and practical skills needed to understand and influence contemporary society. The Bachelor of Media component consists of 96 UOC and is structured into three parts: 24 UOC of Foundation courses that introduce key concepts in media, communication, and cultural studies; 48 UOC of Specialisation courses that allow students to focus in areas such as cinema studies, communication and journalism, media studies, public relations and advertising, or screen production; and 24 UOC of Expansion courses that enable interdisciplinary learning across different media fields. The Bachelor of Social Sciences component also consists of 96 UOC and includes 48 UOC of core courses that provide a strong grounding in social science theories, research methods, and contemporary societal issues, along with a 48 UOC major that allows students to specialise in a chosen area of social inquiry such as politics, sociology, or international studies. Together, the Media (Program 3341) and Social Sciences (Program 3325) components create a well-rounded interdisciplinary qualification that develops critical thinking, research ability, and communication skills, preparing graduates for careers in media, policy, research, advocacy, and community-focused roles.
