COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Media is a double degree program requiring the completion of 240 Units of Credit (UOC), combining 144 UOC in Law with 96 UOC in Media to provide an interdisciplinary education in legal studies and communication. The Bachelor of Law component includes 96 UOC of compulsory law courses that build a strong foundation in legal principles, reasoning, and the Australian legal system. Students also complete 6 UOC of prescribed law electives and 42 UOC of additional law elective courses, allowing for deeper exploration of specialised legal areas and the development of advanced analytical and research skills. The Bachelor of Media component consists of 96 UOC and is structured into three parts: 24 UOC of Foundation courses that introduce key concepts in media, communication, and cultural studies; 48 UOC of Specialisation courses in areas such as cinema studies, communication and journalism, media studies, public relations and advertising, or screen production; and 24 UOC of Expansion courses that provide opportunities to study across different media disciplines for broader knowledge and interdisciplinary learning. Together, the Law (Program 4701) and Media (Program 3341) components equip students with a unique combination of critical thinking, legal expertise, and communication skills. Graduates are prepared for diverse careers in media law, journalism, public relations, policy, corporate communications, and other fields where law and media intersect and influence public discourse.
