COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) combined with the Bachelor of Computer Science is a double degree program requiring a total of 264 Units of Credit (UOC), consisting of 168 UOC from Engineering and 96 UOC from Computer Science. Due to overlapping course requirements, students typically complete at least 24 UOC of shared subjects, which reduces the effective minimum study load to 240 UOC in many cases. The Engineering component includes a 168 UOC major structured around introductory knowledge core courses (approximately 30–42 UOC), at least 48 UOC of disciplinary and enquiry-based courses, a minimum of 12 UOC of disciplinary electives, and remaining foundation disciplinary knowledge courses within the chosen specialisation. In addition, all Engineering students must complete at least 60 days of approved industrial training to gain practical industry experience. The Computer Science component requires completion of a structured major, although certain combinations such as BINFAH, COMPBH, and SENGAH are not available in this double degree. Depending on course selection, students may experience additional overlap beyond the standard 24 UOC, and in such cases they must take extra electives from Engineering or Computer Science to meet the minimum 240 UOC requirement. Some courses can be double-counted across both degrees, such as COMP1511 replacing equivalent introductory computing subjects and certain Mathematics courses satisfying requirements in both programs. Overall, this double degree provides strong technical depth in both engineering and computing, preparing graduates for careers in software systems, engineering innovation, data-driven technologies, and advanced computing industries.
