COURSE CURRICULUM

The double degree program requires students to complete a total of 240 UOC, combining a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Materials Science and Engineering with a Bachelor of Engineering Science. Although the combined total of both degrees would normally be 264 UOC, the requirement is reduced to 240 UOC due to an overlap of at least 24 UOC of engineering courses that are shared between the two programs. The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Materials Science and Engineering contributes 168 UOC and provides advanced training in the science, design, and application of materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites, with a strong emphasis on innovation and engineering principles. The Bachelor of Engineering Science component contributes 96 UOC and broadens students’ engineering knowledge across fundamental and applied areas, supporting a multidisciplinary understanding of engineering systems. Together, these disciplinary components ensure students develop both depth in materials engineering and breadth across general engineering science. The integrated structure allows efficient progression through both qualifications while maintaining academic rigor and professional standards. Overall, the program prepares graduates with strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, equipping them for careers in advanced manufacturing, materials development, engineering design, and a wide range of technology-driven industries where interdisciplinary expertise is highly valued.
