COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Surveying) program is designed with a flexible and practice-oriented structure that combines foundational engineering knowledge with specialised surveying skills. In the first year, students undertake a flexible study plan that includes a wide range of electives alongside five essential core courses in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Design, and Computing, providing a strong technical base for advanced study. A distinctive feature of the degree is the one-week off-campus survey camp, which offers immersive, hands-on learning through real-world survey projects. During this intensive field experience, students engage in activities such as control survey design and implementation, detail and contour surveys, rural road setting-out, cadastral surveying, and remote sensing analysis using satellite imagery. They also work on digital photogrammetric mapping, establish geodetic control networks, apply precise GPS techniques, collect and design GIS data systems, and develop geospatial databases. Students further process field data and prepare professional plans and reports while working collaboratively in small teams, simulating real industry conditions. Core courses throughout the degree include Surveying and Geospatial Engineering, Engineering Design and Professional Practice, Surveying Applications and Design, and Cadastral Surveying and Land Law. The program also offers diverse electives such as Ecology, Sustainability and Environmental Science, Computer Science Fundamentals, Engineering Infrastructure Systems, Fundamentals of Geology, and Sustainable Energy, enabling students to broaden their interdisciplinary understanding and prepare for modern surveying careers.
