COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) program has a structured curriculum designed to progressively build engineering knowledge, technical skills, and professional experience over four years. In the first year, students typically study foundational subjects including two introductory Mathematics courses, an introductory Physics course, and an introductory Computing course, along with an introductory course related to their chosen specialisation. A key first-year subject for all students is ENGG1000 “Introduction to Engineering Design and Innovation,” which develops core engineering thinking by teaching students how to design solutions under constraints such as limited time, budget, and resources. In the second year, students begin studying courses specific to their selected engineering specialisation while also completing core subjects that provide essential discipline knowledge. The third and fourth years focus on advanced core courses and a range of elective subjects, allowing students to deepen their expertise and tailor their degree to their interests and career goals. Throughout the program, students must also complete two General Education electives, which broaden their academic perspective by encouraging study outside the engineering faculty and enhancing critical thinking and interdisciplinary understanding. Additionally, the degree includes 60 days of Engineering Professional Practice, providing real-world industry experience before graduation. This integrated approach ensures graduates develop strong technical ability, practical skills, and professional readiness for engineering careers.
