COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Geoenergy & Geostorage is structured as a four-year program where course selection and timetabling shape an individual study pathway. In the first year, students undertake introductory courses in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, along with an introductory course related to their chosen specialisation, providing the essential scientific and technical foundation for engineering study. All students also complete DESN1000 “Introduction to Engineering Design and Innovation,” where they learn core engineering thinking skills and develop innovative solutions under real-world constraints such as limited time, budget, and resources. In the second year, students focus on core courses within the Geoenergy & Geostorage specialisation to build foundational knowledge, while also selecting electives aligned with their interests. The third and fourth years are designed to deepen expertise through a combination of advanced core and elective courses, allowing students to specialise further in areas such as subsurface energy systems, carbon storage, and sustainable resource engineering. Throughout the degree, students are required to complete the equivalent of 60 days of relevant industrial training, ensuring strong professional and practical experience. In addition, two General Education electives are included to broaden academic perspectives and develop interdisciplinary thinking, adaptability, and critical analysis skills, preparing graduates for diverse roles in the evolving global energy sector.
