COURSE CURRICULUM

The program requires students to complete a total of 192 UOC along with at least 60 days of approved industrial training experience when taken as a standalone degree. The curriculum is designed to progressively develop technical expertise and professional competence across four academic levels. At Level 1, students complete 48 UOC of Core Courses that introduce foundational knowledge in mathematics, science, and basic engineering principles relevant to the built environment. Level 2 Core Courses also contribute 48 UOC and deepen understanding of core civil engineering concepts, analytical methods, and design fundamentals. At Level 3, another 48 UOC of Core Courses further develop advanced technical skills and applied engineering knowledge, preparing students for complex real-world infrastructure challenges. Level 4 Core Courses consist of 12 UOC and focus on advanced professional engineering practice and specialised knowledge areas. The program also includes Thesis Courses, where students undertake independent research and apply their learning to a significant engineering problem or project. In addition, students complete 12 UOC of Built Environment Electives, allowing them to explore architecture and related disciplines to broaden their design perspective. Civil Engineering Level 4 Discipline Electives provide further specialisation options in advanced civil engineering topics. Finally, the mandatory Industrial Training Requirement ensures students gain practical, real-world industry experience, strengthening their professional readiness and employability upon graduation.
