COURSE CURRICULUM

Students must complete a total of 240 UOC, which is divided between the Bachelor of Economics (96 UOC) and the Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) (144 UOC). The Economics component provides a strong foundation in economic theory and applied business knowledge. It includes an Introductory Business Core worth 6 UOC, which introduces essential concepts in business and economics, followed by Economics Core Courses worth 48 UOC that develop key analytical frameworks. Students also complete 30 UOC of Economics Electives, allowing them to specialise in areas of interest, and 12 UOC of Business School Electives to broaden their academic perspective. Students may also choose to structure these Economics core and elective subjects into an optional Economics major, with certain courses counting towards both core and major requirements for greater flexibility. The Bachelor of Advanced Mathematics (Honours) component makes up 144 UOC and is designed to develop advanced quantitative, analytical, and research skills. It includes an approved Advanced Mathematics (Honours) major, ensuring deep disciplinary expertise, as well as SCIF1131, which provides foundational scientific training. Students also complete a 48 UOC Honours Year, which involves advanced coursework and a significant research project, allowing them to apply mathematical methods to complex problems. In addition, Science elective courses provide further breadth. Overall, this double degree integrates economics with advanced mathematical training, preparing graduates for highly analytical careers in fields such as finance, data science, research, and policy analysis.
