COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design/Bachelor of Media at UNSW Sydney is a 192 Units of Credit (UOC) double degree that integrates creative design practice with contemporary media studies to develop versatile, industry-ready graduates. The program is structured into two equal 96 UOC disciplinary components. The Bachelor of Design includes 18 UOC of core courses that establish foundational design principles, followed by a 78 UOC specialisation, where students develop advanced skills in areas such as visual communication, UX design, product design, spatial design, or computational design, depending on their chosen pathway. The Bachelor of Media component consists of 24 UOC of foundation courses that introduce key concepts in media theory, communication, and storytelling, followed by a 48 UOC specialisation that allows students to focus on fields such as journalism, public relations, advertising, screen production, or media studies. A further 24 UOC of expansion courses provides opportunities to broaden knowledge across complementary media disciplines and strengthen interdisciplinary understanding. This structure enables students to combine creative production skills with critical media analysis and communication strategies. Through studio-based learning, theoretical study, and industry engagement, students gain both practical expertise and conceptual insight. Graduates are prepared for careers in design, media production, advertising, branding, digital content creation, and communications, equipped to influence audiences and create impactful visual and narrative experiences across diverse industries.
