COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce / Media at UNSW is a four-year double degree program that requires students to complete a total of 192 Units of Credit (UOC), with 96 UOC from Commerce and 96 UOC from Media. The Commerce component includes 48 UOC of Integrated First-Year courses that provide a foundation in business areas such as finance, marketing, economics, management, and analytics. Students then complete a 48 UOC Commerce major in a chosen discipline, along with a Work Integrated Learning course that can be taken through Commerce or Arts to gain real-world industry experience. A Final Year Synthesis project (0–6 UOC) is also included to help students integrate and apply their learning. The Media component consists of 24 UOC of foundation courses that introduce key concepts in communication, media theory, and production. Students then complete a 48 UOC specialisation in areas such as public relations, advertising, journalism, screen production, or media studies, allowing them to build focused creative and professional skills. The remaining 24 UOC consists of expansion courses that broaden knowledge and strengthen expertise in media practice and analysis. The program also includes MyBCom, which supports career planning and professional development throughout the Commerce degree. Overall, this double degree prepares graduates for careers in media, journalism, public relations, advertising, corporate communications, marketing, and business, combining strong commercial knowledge with advanced communication and media skills.
